About

Drew and son, Michaeldrewroman.com is the personal web log of Drew Roman, husband, new father, entrepreneur, IT consultant, gadget addict, fan of science and car nut.

I have a deep passion for promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in the U.S.. I’ve been heavily involved with a fairly young non-profit, the National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE). Some of those projects include the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP), Dr. Jeff’s Blog on the Universe, the Voyage National Program and Journey Through the Universe.

Being a veteran (go Air Force!), I have very strong feelings about Veterans issues, even more so in recent years, considering the incredible toll that the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts have taken on our people in uniform.

In my professional life I run a small IT consulting business, my main focus being efficient IT infrastructure, the largest part of that being virtualization technologies. I am also a big proponent of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and am constantly looking for ways to use FOSS as an IT consultant.

I love to travel, both domestic and internationally. I’ve been to every state in the U.S., lived in South Korea for almost 4 years and have traveled to a lot of neat places, such as Kwajalein, Egypt, Kuwait, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Great Britain, among others. I used to be able to speak Mandarin Chinese and Korean fairly well and hope to do so again someday if I can find the time.

I don’t write about anything specific on here, it’s mostly a way to keep my family and friends updated, share pics/news of the boy and share other things that I enjoy or feel strongly enough to write about. The Lifestream Category has all of my social media activity archived and my latest diggs, stumbles, tweets and such can be found on the Lifestream page, there’s bound to be something of interest to most people in there somewhere, so browse around, you may find something you like, if not, come back later, I might just surprise you.
