Korean-babiesWe’re holding Michael’s “Tol“, or first birthday celebration Saturday, September 19th at the Hawthorn Center in Columbia, MD. The event will be from 3pm until 8pm.

Directions to the Hawthorn Center with a map can be found at the Hickory Ridge website. For those of you that know where we live, it is right around the corner from our house.

From D.C.: North on US Rt. 29 to Exit 18B, Broken Land Parkway West. Move over to left lane immediately. Turn left at Hickory Ridge Road (traffic light). Drive one mile; turn left at Sunny Spring. 1½ blocks on left.

From Baltimore: South on US Rt. 29 to Exit 18, Broken Land Parkway West. Turn left at traffic light at end of exit ramp. Turn left at next traffic light, Hickory Ridge Road. Drive one mile; turn left at Sunny Spring. 1½ blocks on left.

From MD Route 32: Exit 17, turn north onto Cedar Lane. At third light (Owen Brown Road) turn right. Take first left turn (Sunny Spring). ⅔ mile on right.

From I-95: Take MD Route 32 west (Exit 38). Follow directions as above.

In lieu of gifts, we are soliciting donations for two organizations that have helped Michael so much, the Johns Hopkins Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the University of Maryland Medical Center Pediatric Rehab Department.

Below are a few examples of items that would be great for the kids being treated at either of these locations. Toys should be new, easily cleanable, (e.g., plastic, foam or wooden) with little or no fabric. Some of the best items are crib soothers, mobiles and mirrors. Preemie/newborn clothing (new) is also desirable. Items should be unwrapped and in the original packaging (think Toys for Tots), we will have a box for the donations.
